Routine Cat Care

When you bring your cat to Clarion Animal Hospital for a pet exam, we have a designated space in our lobby for you to wait with your cat separate from our other patients to reduce stress to your feline. During the appointment, we will perform a comprehensive physical examination along with blood and fecal testing to ensure your cat is feeling well inside and out. We will also administer any necessary vaccinations and discuss a flea, tick and heartworm prevention plan if your pet is not on one already. Although kittens and older cats may require more frequent appointments, the basis of their wellness exams are still the same: to assess and maintain their health so they can continue to make happy memories by your side.

Signs Your Cat Needs to See the Vet

If you notice any of the following signs or behaviors in your cat, it may be time to bring them to the vet:

  • Lack of appetite
  • Reduced activity
  • Continuous vomiting or diarrhea
  • More frequent urination
  • Coughing
  • Persistent sneezing
  • Discharge from the eyes/ears/nose

How Often Should My Cat See the Vet?

We recommend annual exams for adult cats, while kittens and senior cats should see us more often so we can set up your new kitten for success and make sure your senior pet ages gracefully throughout their golden years. Kittens require more frequent visits early in life to ensure they are up to date on their vaccinations, receive appropriate parasite prevention, and so we can answer any questions you have about your new friend’s care. Older cats are more susceptible to age-related illness such as arthritis, kidney disease, or cancer and therefore should see us at least twice a year so we can stay up to date on any health changes and provide prompt care.

Your pet, our passion.
